    本研究は、ゲイ・レズビアン当事者にインタビューを実施し、ゲイ・レズビアン当事者が日常においてどのようなときに、「カミングアウト」について意識するのかを理解しようとするものである。2020年4月時点での調査計画としては、国内各地の大学に通うゲイ・レズビアンの大学生に、対象者の希望する地域で、貸会議室やレンタルスペース等の個室を利用しながら、対面でのインタビューを行うというものであった。実施時期は、2020年度9月上旬～2021年度12月下旬を予定していた。しかし、新型コロナウィルス感染症拡大が当初の想定よりも大幅に長引いたため、調査実施は延期を余儀なくされた。
    このように想定外の大規模災害によるスケジュールの見直しを余儀なくされた一方で、本年度は、理論的な枠組みの精緻化のための作業が進展したといえる。 国内外のジェンダー・セクシュアリティ研究の最新の知見を踏まえ、本年度は、インタビュー調査実施のための理論的な枠組みと調査設計について、文献収集を行いながら再検討と精緻化を行った。こうした作業においてとりわけ焦点化されたのは、性的マイノリティの内部における、ジェンダーにかかわる差異の問題である。ジェンダーという変数が本研究の対象とするゲイ・レズビアンのカミングアウトをめぐる経験に、どのような差異や格差をもたらすと想定されるのか。こうした観点から、ジェンダーおよびフェミニズム関連の最新の知見を収集すべく、国内外の書籍・論文が渉猟された。
