    平成13年度は、当初の計画のとおりに、1、特徴的な対象の調査と2、転用手法の整理をおこなった。 1、特徴的な対象の調査 7月にイタリアへ渡航し、カステルベッキオ美術館、パレルモの歴史的中心地区、ヴェローナの円形闘技場の図面と写真を収集した(高橋)。これにより、新しいところを抑制的に扱い既存部分を際だたせ、総体として時間的経過を表現する手法を把握することができた。 8月から国内調査を行い、建築スケールとして、今井町のまちづくりセンター(奈良)、金沢市民芸術村(石川)、明倫小学校(京都)、郡上八幡旧町役場(岐阜)、桐生市の鋸屋根工場(群馬)、町家の転用(京都、石川)、農家の再生(富山)の写真と図面を収集した(黒野、日色)。さらに都市スケールとして、銀座の首都高速と横十間川(東京)、鉄道ガード下の店舗(兵庫)の写真と図面を収集した(黒野、日色)。 2、転用手法の整理 転用例を分類するためのインデックスを事例ごとに抜き出し、データを整理した。これにより転用の手法について、以下の4つの枠組みを考案した。 (1)、スケール: 都市レベルと建築レベルとの対応を比較すると、都市レベルのものがサポートとなっていることがわかる。建築レベルと室内レベルの対応を比較すると、転用に伴って両者の境界が曖昧になっていることがわかる。 (2)、しつらえの操作: 室内レベルにおいては、建具と家具が重要な要素となる。既存部分と対比的なモチーフとして使用されている。 (3)、開口部や天井や階段: 既存部分の内外を反転させ、別の視点から見る手法がとられる。階段の位置はしばしば変更される。 (4)、象徴的操作: 板やステンドグラスなど一部を残して、全体を象徴する手法が見られる。これは外国で見られず、とくに日本的な手法といえる。

    In order to trace the color of the fresh clay walls of Sumiya, which is said to be an exhibition hall of quality clay walls, the comparison was made between the measured value of the color in February, 1992 and that in February, 2000, and the direction of change and the amounts of change are discussed. The color difference was measured by LィイD1*ィエD1 aィイD1*ィエD1bィイD1*ィエD1 color expressing system. The clay walls which had a large difference between 1992 and 2000 in LィイD1*ィエD1 value were 'Yellow Otsu Migaki' and 'Red Otsu Migaki' and the change direction was to the high LィイD1*ィエD1 value. As for CィイD1*ィエD1value, 'Yellow Otsu Migaki' and 'Osaka-tsuchi' make much difference and both of the change directions were to the low CィイD1*ィエD1 value. As for aィイD1*ィエD1 value and bィイD1*ィエD1 value, the large differences in aィイD1*ィエD1 value appear in 'Koshushiro no Aka' and 'Osaka-tsuchi' and both change directions were to the low aィイD1*ィエD1 value and those in bィイD1*ィエD1 value appear in 'Red Otsu Migaki' on the corridor wall on the west side of 'Ogi Room' and 'Koshuhaku no Aka' on the porch of 'Ume Room'. The color differences in 'Juraku-tsuchi' and stuccoed walls were small. The characteristics of spectra of powder-type samples depend much on their density, thickness and the conditions of the irradiated surface. So the measurements were made only on diffused reflection using a combination of a newly designed cup with quarts, whose volume is variable, for measuring powder-type samples with little errors and a large integratingsphere with a specular reflectance trap which detect only dispersion with accuracy. And as the results by the measurement method of CCM (computer color matching) on the basis of the diffused reflection spectra of powder-type samples, the color difference between the aimed color and the measured color was very small, under 1.0. Kansai District has a variety of colored clay such as 'Juraku-tsuchi', 'Osaka-tsuchi', 'Asagi-tsuchi', 'Kujo-tsuchi', 'Momoyama-tsuchi' and so on. 'Juraku-tsuchi' is a special one which Rikyu used in his tea ceremony room with his affection. In order to study 'Juraku-tsuchi' geologically, the history of the strata where the clay was gathered was investigated. 'Juraku-tsuchi' exists in the mud stratum under the area where Heiankyu (Palace in the Heian Period) used to be, and it is thought to be the base of the Heian Capital. The plain in the north of Kyoto Basin is an alluvial cone of the Kamo River and the Tenjn River. And on the alluvial cone, there exists one-meter thick mud layer. To know the process of its formation, the mud at several points is now being gathered.

    The design method using space blocks and event icons is developed for wayfinding design. The space block is a notation system of a void surrounded by walls and floors. The event icon is a kind of pictogram, which represent actions and happenings in the spaces. In this research, we focus on the shopping complex especially department stores as the good examples of complicate wayfinding design. From observation and questionnaire surveys in those areas, we proposed the schema of the typical department store. To compare this schema and the today's existing stores, we conducted comprehensive survey of the representative department stores in domestic and overseas area. We collected the floor guides of the stores, and focus on the sectional composition of the stores. Store plans are very various and changeable, so the comparison between them are very difficult. For that reason, we proposed the fifty standard codes of goods. Using space block-event icon notation with these codes, collected floor guide data are described and classified. The results show that space blocks and event icons have potential availability for broader context in the designing which deal with the interaction between spaces and events. To develop the useful tools for that kind of designing, we began to hold the several design workshops for architectural and non-architectural students

    This joint project was undertaken to advance the Ulster (North Ireland)- Aichi Shukutoku University International MA Program in Media Studies, and to research issues pertinent to cross-cultural media education. The joint international program is a unique and unprecedented one that requires students to spend the spring semester at Shukutoku and fall at Ulster. Prior to the program inception, intensive discussion was engaged extendedly to agree on common research and educational themes. A striking difference in approach to media studies was revealed therein. While the program at the University of Ulster emphasizes theory-based research as exemplified by Cultural Studies, the counterpart at Shukutoku revolves around TV and film production, and is experimental and experiential in its emphasis. Three Japanese students in 1997 and one in 1998 were enrolled in this joint MA program. While the curriculum change at Aichi Shukutoku University necessitated the temporal suspension of the program in 1999, faculty exchange continued. Professor Martin McLoone, John Hill, and Sarah Edge of the Media Studies Program at the University of Ulster visited Shukutoku to join discussion. Differences in student evaluation methods, requirements for the master's degree, and the preferred approaches to media studies were identified anew as the issues that potentially deter the smooth operation of the joint program. Moreover, it was agreed that the instructional languages used at the respective institution would keep students from applying for the program. The acknowledged differences and difficulties notwithstanding, this project served as a precious opportunity for the faculty members of the two institutions to broaden their perspectives of the media, and also to acquaint themselves with a variety of teaching and research methods. A symposium, titled "East-West Perspectives of Media Studies, " was held successfully to publicize the results of this two year project.

    Some sample from real architecture and real urban space were chosen to construct digital data base on internet with using the way of describing as "Space Block". In 1997, the space which has clear border and is easy to describe as "Space Block" were investigated. The investigation object are square in front of Pompidu center(Paris), Le Ccuvent de La Tourette(Lyon), Galleria Vittorio Emanuel II(Milano), Piazza del Campo(Siena), Pantheon(Rome), Piazza della Cisterna(a small town in south Italy). In 1998, objects were pick up from contemporary architecture which are difficult to describe as "Space Block". The objects are works done Alvar Aalto in Finland, New National Gallery(Berlin), Galeries Lafyette(Berlin), and Kunsthal(Rotterdam), etc. Pictures of the whole circumstances of the object space were collected from one or plural points. Data base was built with "Quick Time VR(QTVR)" system which enabled to handle interactively on computer from these pictures. From this, This data base made it easy to imagine the atmosphere of surrounded space such as space it is difficult to understand from drawings or a picture. With comparing the processed data, it was shown concretely that to reproduce the atmosphere of the space, there are effective elements which is decided by the character of the space. Panorama from the plural points, lighting and reflection light, the material of the ceiling and the floor, a connection between the space which adjoins it, and the outside space.

    The space block is a notation system of a void surrounded by walls and floors with people and trees in it. We developed this notation for education tools for architectural students, during these years. In this research, using this concept of space block, spatial design method for wayfinding is proposed. We apply this method for the wayfinding in shopping spaces. For this purpose, observation and questionnaire surveys were conducted as follows. In 1996, we observed people's behaviors in some major department stores in Tokyo area. This shows that there are some standing patterns of wayfinding behaviors in the shopping space. In 1997, we conducted questionnaire surveys about the image of the spatial composition of department stores on university students in Tokyo and Nagoya. From this survey, schema for actions, spaces and their relationships are made clear. For visually describing action schema, we introduce event icons, which mean actions and happenings. Event icons during wayfinding are classified into three types : to do something, to get information, and to move. Waydinding data from observation survey were well described using the sequence of pairs, an event icon and a space block. This notation system is well able to explain not only observed scenes, but planned and remembered scenes of wayfinding as well. We began to develop this method for more general design about scenes.

    Is it right or wrong to consider the tradition since Sannai Maruyama as an origin of the landscape where Japanese mental image todey that appearance of japan covered with silver in the Ginkakuji Temple 500 years ago is preferred to gold in Konjikido 1000 years ago has been formed in the Japanese cultural history? so the study focuses on the landscape of Sannai Maruyama as an origin of the view of red in Japan and the color of japan red excavated there will be promising clue to the expansion and deepening of the investigation study concerning "red color in Japan and that in China". Science today will be able to elucidate the original color of japan red seen in the painting of the utensils or japan black excavated in the same way and to approach the culture of Sannai Maruyama. The landscape of red projected upon Joumon Culture, which has come down to the minds of the Japanese nation, born in the Tohoku region of Japan, where autums leaves of trees turn bright red in the blessing nature, is considred to come from the variation of views seen in the plants life. And in addition, considering that Mr.Ryotaro Shiba described the place in autumn as a "mahoroba" (utopia) of the north, in the process of thinking that the origin of red in Japan is japan red in the Joumon era and red leaves in the moutains and fields, one landscape comes into minds. What was a sight of Sannai Maruyama society in the ancient time more than 4000 years ago? It was the landscape of red in the garden of the festival where people fathered from far and near. Was it ever connected with the maidens' white and red clothes dancing in front of a deity in posterity? Or what was the role of red as a sacred color in the ancient rituals in East Asia? What was the role of japan red in Sannai Maruyama to the culture in the ancient Asia and how could it be connected with the traditional culture today? It must be a theme expected to provide a new phase to overall study from atural science to archaeoloty and from history to cultural anthropology.

    空間の表記法として提案されたスペースブロックを、立体化した人間環境系に焦点を当てた設計方法として展開を図った。理論的側面としては、生活のある場面を表すまとまりをもった単位としてスペースブロックを分節することで、設計行為を、不連続な構成要素の関係としては表せない濃密な記号を扱うスペースブロックレベルと、スペースブロックという不連続な記号間の関係を扱うスペースブロックネットレベルに分けて考えられることがわかった。この二つのレベルが、設計ツールとしてスペースブロックを実現するために、模型やインタラクティブなコンピュータグラフィックス、あるいはスケッチや図面、さらには文章などのメディアやそれらの組み合わせを用いる場合に保持されることで、実現メディア間を容易に変換しながら設計することが可能になる。 スペースブロックを利用する実践的側面としては、学生を対象に設計のワークショップを開き、その中で具体的方法を探った。ワークショップに利用する道具として、2.5mキューブの3,4,5個からなる規格化したスペースブロックを考え、プラスチック板で100分の1スケールで作成しベーシックスペースブロックと呼んだ。ワークショップは、一つのベーシックスペースブロックを用いる場合と、複数を用いる場合とを行った。その結果、スペースブロックレベルとしては、制約の強い形をしたベーシックスペースブロックを用いることで、空間の形とその使い方についての想像力が刺激されること、外部空間と内部空間を等価に考えやすいことが効果として見られた。また、透明と白(不透明)のベーシックスペースブロックを用いると、内部/外部、パブリック/プライベートなど様々な対立軸をあてはめて考えやすいこともわかった。スペースブロックネットレベルとしては、普通に平面図や断面図を利用していたのでは考えられないような複雑に立体化した空間が、アクセスや外部との関係などを把握しながら作り出せるという効果がみられた。

    シーンのネットワークを、特に立体化した都市空間の特性を表す表現法とするために、他の表現法と並行して具体的な対象に適応しつつ検討した。ここでいうシーンのネットワークは、対象地を撮影したビデオ画像をコンピュータを利用して編集し、動きにつれ展開するシーンを網状につなぎ合わせたもので、一部をコンピュータ内に実現し、その概念モデルを模型として実現した。この他に比較に用いた表現法は、雑誌等の印刷メディアに掲載された写真と文章による表現、コンピュータを利用して合成や変形を加えた写真や組写真、ビデオで撮影し編集した数分の映像である。いずれも対象空間の特性をできるだけ表すように表現したものである。対象とした都市空間は、東京の東急文化村(渋谷)、フロムファーストビル(表参道)、代官山ヒルサイドテラス、銀座4丁目交差点、地下鉄乃木坂駅入口周辺、渋谷宮下公園十陸橋、池袋メトロポリタンプラザの合計7箇所である その結果、都市空間の特性によって有効となる表現法が異なることがわかった。中でもシーンのネットワークは、立体的な視線のやり取りを含んだ複雑な空間の表現に有効であった。さらに、人の動線と相互にやり取りされる視線との絡み合った結節点を複数含んだ都市空間では、ネットワークが特徴的なねじれを示すことがわかり、そのような場合に中間のシーンを省略して簡潔にする方法を探った これらを通して、シーンのネットワークを空間デザインの方法として展開する可能性が示唆された シーンのネットワークをコンピュータ上で実現するには、オーサリングツールを用いて空間体験者がシーンの中で次の場面を選択しながら仮想空間を移動する方法に可能性があることが確認された。その完全な実現は今後の課題となっている。

    We researched the changes of themes in public housing for 50 years after world war II,and mainly dealt with the roles and effects of architectural planning in those changes. We colleted many examples of public housing from architectural journals, books, etc, and then we classified them. We also made some study tours on some important public housings and interviewed 13 people, who actually planned and designed thpose housings. According to our research, the themes of architectural planning in public housing have changed as follows. (1) in the 1950's ・Develop the ways of inhabitations (2) in the 1950's and 1960's ・Standard plans by Kodan-Jutaku in the early days ・Ways of site planning by Kodan-Jutaku (3) in the 1970's ・Proposals of urban housings by Kodan-Jutaku ・Some new waves of Koei-Jutaku like Rokuban-ike (4) in the 1980's ・Changes in quality of Kodan-Jutaku ・Introduction of master-architect-formula (5) in the 1990's ・Trial of street-housing ・Trial of open-plan-housing

    立体化した住空間が形成するミクロなタウンスケープについて、計画への利用を意図したモデルを作成するために、日本国内の次のような先行事例を調査し、成功した側面と問題となる側面とを明らかにした上で、基礎となる資料を収集した。 1)坂出人工土地:国内で初めて大規模に人工地盤を用いた大高正人設計の再開発計画。人工地盤上は非常に良好な環境が実現されているが、下部の通路、駐車場などはあまり良好とはいえない。上下のアクセスが不十分と思われる。 2)広島基町高層住宅団地:1と同じ設計者による高層住宅。人工地盤、屋上庭園、ピロティ、エレベータコア周辺などは良好に利用されているが、階段部分には問題点が多い。 3)三宮センター街:スカイウェイとアーケードがかなり大規模に採用された例。空中の広場はよく利用されているが、空中歩廊にはほとんど利用されていないものがある。 また、立体化した空間については、実現しなかったりあるいは実現を前提としていなかったプロジェクトが影響を与えた場合が多い。そのため、Smithon夫婦や日本のメタボリストたちの構想案についての資料を収集し分析を加えた。 さらに、これらの立体化した住空間をモデル化するために、壁などに囲まれた空間をその中の人間や植物ごと取り出したスペースブロックという表現法を考案した。これは生活の場面を表し、人間とその環境を一体の人間環境系として扱うモデルである。このスペースブロックをCADソフトを利用してコンピュータ上に表現し、ブロックの変形、表面素材の組み替え、ブロックどうしの組み合わせ、合体分割などを表現した。この方法を用いて、調査対象のデータベースを構築した。

    Hearing the design process of the students of the two universities at 4 stages of whole design process, the protocol data and the contents in the esquise of these design were gained. And the characteristics of the education method of other universities, at the design themes' structure, the setting of the design themes, the staff making at the esquise, the way of estimation to the design. From this study, we have found that imagined "view points" and the education methods have the following characteristics and the structure on the architectural and environmental design. 1.At the theme "the museum for children" , many "view points" (10 to 30 points)occurred at the first stage of design process, on the contrary at the theme "collective houses", the "view points" gathered at the end of the design process. 2.Many "view points" and the "view points" axs were recognized at the "the museum for children", and the correlation between the number of "view points" and of "view points" axs was observed. There are lot of derivatives of the "view points" axs, a number of space images are created from certain archi tectural image. 3.7 types, such as development, derivation or compound, were categorized. And the ratio of these patterns at each stages have certain characteristic which has no relation with these themes. 4.The "viewing dispersively" rather than "viewing through" makes the space image more variously. The "viewing dispersively" are referred to the activity image at some space. 5.The characteristics of the education method were confirmed as follows, preparing a lot of medium connection to the space image, activating the estimation between students, programing the research for the space activities, roling playr as the two opposite side of evaluation.

    人間が都市空間の中で経路を選択しながら目的地へと移動するプロセスである経路探索について、状況に埋め込まれた行為(situated action)と捉える状況論的な考え方から分析するための基礎的研究を行った。 経路探索の状況に関して、まず人間と都市空間との関係の緊張度によって分類し、緊張の高い「避難」と、低い「散策」の状況を区別し、それらに対して日常的状況を区別する。日常的状況については、さらに人間が都市空間に対して示す習熟度の高い順に、「通い」、「探索」、「探査」と区別することとする。 この分類に従って、日常的状況について過去に行ってきた経路探索実験にもとづくプロトコル分析の方法を厳密にした、これによって、迷いと発見を含んだ問題解決としての経路探索の特徴を、浅いプランニング、豊富な情報が外部から獲得できること、とりあえず行動によって状況が打開されること、語られないプロセスが多くあることが、明確に指摘された。 当初予定した、状況ごとに被験者が様々な役割を演じる実験は実行することはできなかった。しかし、多様に設定することの可能な役割にもとづいて行う実験に関して、どのような視点から評価するべきかを次のように明確化することができた。 1)迷いと発見はどのような場所で生じるか、2)行動のプラン作成はどのようになされるか、3)どんな情報によって確認するか、4)どのようなとりあえず行動を利用するか、5)どのような内容を発言するか、あるいは逆にどのような内容は発言しないか。 これらの評価基準にたって、役割演技の経路探索実験を組織することではじめて、都市空間の評価手法に適用可能な知見を引き出すことができるものと思われる。同時にこれらの基準は、すでに行ってきた経路探索についての計算論的モデルの評価に利用できる。

    This is research on some teaching methods in architectural and environmental design education. Some trials in those methods are given to the students Whos number is about 80 in eachyear. Some results and issues are found from those trials. ・Some unusual but fine ways are found in the organization of the whole projects themes at studio. ・The way called A-B shift, in which two different projects are given to two different groups of the students each at the same time and one group of the students do with B after they went through A and the critic for B which had already done by the other group of the students, is effective. ・Some different ways of critics nead to be shown to students. ・It is effective in learning something new for students that they are seeing some works on the wall or somewhere even after the critic for the works. ・The atomosphere of studio should be produced in different ways according to students' school years, and it also needs to be produced in a way which students feel that it is a place for training.
