    2018度は本研究の目的の達成のために、6都市（ニューヨーク、パリ、東京、メキシコシティ、ナイロビ、マニラ）の底辺層の生活実態の分析と仮説・理論枠の構築を行い、アンケート・聞き取り調査を行った。具体的に次のような活動を行った。本研究の全体会議を2018年9月8日に一橋大学で、2019年3月28日-29日に社会理論・動態研究所（広島）で行った。2018年7月15日-20日にカナダ・トロントで開催された国際社会学会大会に参加し、本研究に関する研究報告を行い、本研究プロジェクトの最終年に刊行予定である英語本に関する出版社と打ち合わせを行った。9月1日-2日に名古屋学院大学で開催された日本都市社会学会に参加し、9月15日に甲南大学で開催された日本社会学会に参加し、本研究に関する情報収集を行った。9月16日に北海道大学東京事務所で本研究に関する国際シンポジウムを開催し、スロベニアの社会学者Ales Bucar Rucman氏が同国の難民問題に関する講演を行った。10月7日に放送大学文教学習センターで斎藤麻人氏（横浜国立大学）を招き、本研究に関する英語論文の執筆についてワークショップを行った。12月8日-9日に社会理論・動態研究所でアジア社会学研究会が開催され、本研究に関する報告と情報収集を行った。2019年3月にCritical Sociologyの編集長David Fasenfest氏を迎えて、11日に大阪で釜ヶ崎を案内し、その後David氏から英語論文の執筆に関するレクチャーを受けた。13日午前に東京の日本大学文理学部キャンパスで、David氏から同レクチャーを受け、午後に国際シンポジウムを開催し、David氏がデトロイトの底辺層について講演を行った。14日午前にDavid氏から同レクチャーを受けた。
