M.cullen; DAVID Dickson; DENIS O'Hearnアイルランドは, ヨーロッパのなかにありながら大西洋に面したその周辺として, 9世紀以降, その時々の中心的勢力の余波が押し寄せる場となってきた。アイルランドは, 英帝国の形成過程における質の異なる植民の重なりと連合王国への組み込み, そして, そこからの離脱(ナショナリズム)と脱植民地化のためのEU参加という歴史的経験をしてきたが、本研究では各組込み段階でのアイルランドの変容を分析することで、英帝国拡張と解体の具体的局面を掘り起こした。
