    １９６２年長野県塩尻市生まれ。青山学院大学大学院文学研究科史学専攻博士後期課程満期退学。博士（歴史学・青山学院大学）。徳川黎明会総務部学芸員、明海大学ホスピタリティ・ツーリズム学部教授などを経て、現在、東洋大学文学部史学科・大学院文学研究科史学専攻教授。日本近世・近代史専攻。著書は『江戸のナポレオン伝説』『江戸の海外情報ネットワーク』などをはじめ、『日本のインティジェンス』『東アジアのボーダーを考える』など多数。
