    本研究の目的は、マレーシアへの留学生による「国際移民システム」の構築に着目し、留学生出身国の背景と時間軸に着目して国際留学生移動を分析することである。3年目に当たる2021年度は、新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大で、予定していたマレーシアおよびバングラデシュでの現地調査を引き続き実施することが叶わなかった。計画の見直しを行い、より広い観点で留学を軸とした人材移動をマクロ・ミクロの双方の視点から分析することによって「国際移民システム」を多角的に検討することとした。 まず先進国からの留学にも着目することとし、日本からマレーシアへの学位取得を目的とした正規留学生について、既存のデータを分析するとともに、追加的なオンラインによるインタビューを実施した。「複合社会」であることによる国際教育の推進や、欧米への従属を乗り越えたマレーシアの教育の特徴を明らかにし、「中心」的な国から「周辺」的な国への国際留学生移動という新たなパラダイム提示を試みた。この結果について比較教育学会で口頭発表するとともに、グローバル人材育成教育研究に投稿し、掲載された。 第二に、学位取得型留学を誘致する前段階としてマレーシアの大学が受け入れる短期英語研修（オンライン）にも着目した。どのような要素が日本人参加者の意欲や積極的な関わり、ひいては長期留学の展望につながるのかPAC分析の結果から検討し、グローバル人材育成教育学会にて口頭発表を行った。 第三に、前年度の分析結果に基づき、バングラデシュ人元留学生にとってのITビジネス起業の場としてのマレーシアの展望や、移民2世が高等教育に就学する際の葛藤等を英文ジャーナルに投稿し採択された。またオンライン調査の結果から、バングラデシュ人移民（元留学生）のホスト社会（マレーシア）との関わりにおいて、社会的ネットワークが果たす役割を分析し、国内ジャーナルに投稿中である。
