    In pretend play, people sometimes intentionally distort reality. Therefore, it is considered that children do not acquire new knowledge through pretense, which often causes misconceptions. However, recent studies (e.g., Hopkins, Dore, & Lillard, 2015; Sutherland & Friedman, 2012, 2013) showed that children can learn new information in pretend play with adults. The present study showed that children can learn the perceptual characteristics of novel foods or tools through pretense.

    This project examined the development of self-regulation from the point of cognitive and/or emotional regulation. Three-year longitudinal research found the social information processing of young children related the peer relationship of 1st and 2nd graders. In addition, this project examined the emotional physiological response and cognitive response to the face of adults and infants, cognitive response about distress response to cry of infant between Japan -Italia. This project also examined the effect of emotional stimulus on inhibitory response in go/nogo task, eye-tracking analysis on the social information processing task, the effect in/out group on the conformity of young children, and the effect of family construct on the social behavior of young children.

    The present study investigated whether older siblings changed their behaviors during pretense play and consequently encouraged toddlers to engage in collaborative pretend play, with a sample of 26 pairs of older siblings (M = 5;5) and toddlers (M = 1;11). Older siblings smiled longer, gazed at the toddlers longer, used sound effects more frequently, and engaged in more frequent snack-related actions in a “pretense condition” than in a “real condition.” In addition, sequential analysis revealed that toddlers were significantly more likely to engage in pretense following the specific pattern of older siblings’ pretense signals, as a form of social referencing.

    (1)乳幼児のふりの理解レビュー論文の執筆,投稿 乳幼児のふりの理解についてこれまでの先行研究をレビューし,ふりの理解の発達モデルを提案した。本モデルは,1歳半頃にはふりという行為の理解が可能となり,ふりの背景にある主体の心的状態の理解は4歳以降に可能となることを説明した。また,この2段階の理解は,目的論的推論と心理主義的推論(Gergely&Csibra,2003)の2種の異なる推論によってそれぞれ獲得されるものであることを提案した。 (2)実験:乳児におけるふりの目的論的理解の検討 1歳半児のふりの目的論的推論に基づく理解を予測の違背課題で検討し,彼らがふりを目的論的推論で理解していることを明らかにした。例えば,乳児は飲むふりをするという行為の目的を「のどの渇きを癒す」ことではなく,「遊ぶ」ことであると理解していたなら,その予想に背くジュースを飲むという行為の映像を長く注視した。 (3)博士論文の執筆 (1)の論文で提案したふりの理解の発達モデルを,7つの実験で検証した。これらの実験の結果は,1歳半頃にはふりという行為の理解が可能となり,ふりの背景にある主体の心的状態の理解は4歳以降に可能となること,乳幼児期を通してのふり遊びの体験がふり行為の心理的背景への理解をもたらすことを明らかにし,モデルの適切性を一部実証した。

    1.自分がふりをするときの心の働きの理解 従来,他者がふりをするときの心の働きに関する幼児の理解が検討されてきた。すなわち,他者がふりをするためには,ふりの対象に関する知識や(e.g.,Davis,Woolley&Bruell,2002;Lillard,1993;杉本,2006,2007),ふりをする意図(e.g., Joseph,1998;Lillard,1998)を持っている必要があることの理解である。しかしながら,自分自身(自己)がふりをときの心の働きの理解は検討されていない。そこで,自分が未知の対象のふりをできないこと(調査1),未知の対象のふりをする際どのような知識を持つべきか(調査2)に関する幼児の理解を検討した。 これを検討するために,年少児(3,4歳児),年長児(5,6歳児)を対象に,自分がルモソ(未知対象)のふりができるか(調査1),自分がレミング(未知対象)のふりをする時,正しい知識を与える第3者と誤った知識を与える第3者のいずれから教えてもらいたいか(調査2)を聞いた。さらに,その理由を尋ねた。2つの調査結果から,年少児で既に,自分が未知の対象のふりをできないことや,未知の対象のふりをするためにその正しい知識を持つべきことを理解していた。しかしながら,その理由として自分の知識に関する説明を行うことは年少児には難しく,年長児では可能であることが示された。また,この結果は,心の働きの理解に関しては自分が先か,他者が先かという問題が論議されているが,自分の心の働きの理解の方が先に獲得されることを示唆した。
